Week at a Glance

Annie Madelyn & her Big Sister Skye

Wow! What a week! The first half of the week was pretty tame, but Saturday was the official kick-off to our busiest week so far as new parents. On Saturday evening, we got all packed up (and dressed up) for my cousin Barry and Karen's wedding in Toronto. We were really excited, and nervous to see how Miss Annie would handle it... she did great! She was wide eyed and quiet during the ceremony and slept through most of the festivities, while working her magic on everyone as she was passed from one relative to the next.

Later that day, Grandpops & Granna Outschoorn (aka David & Vivian Outschoorn; aka The Eastern Outschoorns) came up from Nova Scotia to meet Annie, and stay with us for a couple days and help us out. Once again Annie worked her magic, and they helped us out by cleaning the house, cooking meals, and taking care of Annie while we caught up on sleep and some chores around the house. It was fantastic to have them here to meet and enjoy their Granddaughter, and to have all of their help.

On Monday afternoon, Amber and I took Annie to Amber's school in Milton to show her off to some of Amber's co-workers and her Kindergarten students. Amber was all smiles as she introduced Annie to everyone around the school. The staff could not believe how small Annie was and commented on how dainty she looked and how we had her 'in public' so early on. The students on the other hand were full of "questions" (all two of them) like, "Why is she wearing her pyjamas?" and "Is that REALLY Mrs. Fraser?" They also shared a lot about themselves by telling us how much they had grown in age, size and how many teeth they had lost. It was a nice visit as Amber has missed her students and coworkers a lot.

Tonight we had a quick visit from my Aunt Allyn and Uncle Rob (aka My Godparents). As some of you may already know, Allyn sews quilts as one of her hobbies, and made me a quilt of my own (aka "Sammy") when I was an infant, and quilted an interactive book for my 2nd birthday. Well, Allyn has outdone herself again. She made Annie a beautiful pink and chocolate brown quilt to match her nursery with the alphabet, bears, butterflies, flowers and even a dog sewn on it. I know it will be treasured by Annie for the rest of her life just like I treasure my quilt Sammy.
