We've gone Green!

Our beautiful girl in her cloth diaper

Well, this has been a long time coming. Since we discoverd last August 25th that we were pregnant Mason and I have discussed on several occasions the idea of cloth diapering our baby. Initially we were all for it, but the more I read about newborns the more I became nervous about adding one more thing to our plate. With no real knowledge on newborns and how to care for babies, at that time we decided to educate ourselves about cloth diapering and promised each other we'd revisit the cloth diaper discussion after our baby arrived and see if it was feasible.

Well, fast forward to May 4th/09 our beautiful daughter Annie joined our family. As many of you know, becoming a parent is an amazing experinence filled with many happy memories and a whole lot of learning. In a short time we learned how to hold, calm, feed, dress and change our baby girl.

Changing her diapers was easy and came fairly naturally, that is until today. We have now officially switched to cloth diapers. Annie is sound asleep in her first strawberry shortcake cloth diaper as I type this and I am her nervous mother hoping all goes well and that Mason and I can do this without being too grossed out. Thankfully we have a diaper sprayer hooked up to the toilet (picture a mini water spout, similar to the kind on sinks that is on a hose). I am just worried I may spray poop...ewww.

Well, I guess we just have to take this as another learning experience and take it all one diaper change at a time. I feel like although we have educated ourselves and made a decision that I'm still nervous. I did not get a picture of Annie in her first cloth diaper as she was sound asleep and we did not want to wake her. I will take one tomorrow and post it then. Mason thinks its funny as our slim and trim baby girl looks like she's got an "apple bottom."

Wish us luck!! I just hope my stomach cooperates with me tomorrow....

  1. HAHA, actually so far it's not so bad. She was too kind to Mason last night and only had a pee soaked diaper for him, so far I've had 2 poop/pee combos. I am going to feed her lots today so she has a messy one for when Daddy gets home. ;)

  2. Annie totally has a look Alexander does. You'd think they're related or something.
