Annie's First Christmas
This morning started like any other Christmas morning that I remember...with an early wake up. I woke up at 5:30am and snuck downstairs to quietly make breakfast. At my Dad's house we always had pancakes for breakfast on Christmas and he would make us initial pancakes. So, I set to work to keep up with this tradition and made us homemade pancakes.
Thankfully Mason and Annie slept through the process and got the much needed rest so they could enjoy our busy day. I woke Annie up first so together we could go and get Mason and surprise him. We all enjoyed our pancake breakfast together.
After breakfast Mason and I exchanged our gifts and gave Annie her stocking and gifts to open from us. It was so nice to be able to celebrate our first Christmas with Annie. She did not really know what was going on, but was happy to watch the wrap come off her presents. Her favourites were a Dr. Seuss cardboard book and wooden blocks from Grandpa and Granna. She can't get enough of them and has heard Hop on Pop several times today.
After gifts Mason and I put Annie down for her nap and tackled the house and tidied and started the prep for lunch and Dinner as my Mom and Daniel were coming in the early afternoon and Mason's parents were coming for Christmas Dinner. It was surprisingly relaxed and easy to cook a large meal and homemade soup for Mom and Daniel. We had so much food that Mason and I were able to portion out 4 more Christmas Dinners to freeze for days when we don't want to cook or tight for time.
Initially we did not think it felt like Christmas but after seeing our parents and family it really felt more like it was supposed to. We can't wait to see my siblings, the babies and my Mom tomorrow to celebrate together. It's going to be so nice to share in the first christmas together.
On Sunday we'll head out to London to see Mason's family and celebrate with the Fraser's. I hope everyone has a relaxing Christmas celebrating with their loved ones.
Love,
Amber, Mason & Annie
