A year ago today our lives changed forever. August 25, 2008 is a date that is forever etched in my memory as one the happiest days of my life . This is the day we found out we were pregnant. In typical Amber & Mason fashion things did not go according to plans and the 'beans' were spilled with little (if any) creativity or thought. Maybe for Baby #2 I'll do something clever in telling Mason we're expecting. Here is an excerpt from the journal I started that day:
"We're Pregnant! Today was an amazing day to say the least. It started with me waking up asking Mason "What day is it today?" To which he replied August 25th. I then decided that I would take a pregnancy test as my period was late. Mid-test Mason knocked on the door to the bathroom and told me to hurry up that he had to use the bathroom. I put the stick back into the package withough reading the results and let Mason in. Meanwhile, I went outside with Skye to let her do her 'business'. Once Mason came back downstairs I went upstairs to check the results. To my utter amazement a second line appeared. I paused and thought how to tell Mason but I didn't know what to say or do so I yelled, "Honey, come quick!" He ran up the stairs and looked at me not knowing what I was doing. I motioned for him to come into the bathroom. He looked at me and I showed him the pregnancy test. He saw 2 lines too! Excited and in shock we hugged, laughed and I cried tears of joy...."
I am amazed that in that moment we went from being a couple to being a family of three. We spent the next 40 weeks and 1 day eagerly awaiting the arrival of our little Annie. We can't believe how far we have come in a year. I can't wait to see what the next year will bring for our family of three as we watch Annie grow.
Her latest baby trick is to suck her thumb. She discovered it while on a walk with Daddy on Sunday. She has since used her baby trick at night to self soothe and save us from having to put her back to bed. For now we don't mind that she's a thumb sucker as I am sure she'll eventually outgrow the habit. My friend did tell me this creepy story though of a 28-year-old she knew who still sucked his thumb...yikes. Let's hope she is not like that ;)

Amber
