Growing like a weed!

Annie is now three months old and is growing like a weed. We have packed up most of her 0-3 month clothes for the "one day" when we might have a little girl again. It's sad to think that we might never unpack these clothes again, but I hope that if we don't use them again that hopefully someone in the family will be able to enjoy them as much as we did.

Annie is now approx 12lbs and is doing new things daily. Her latest baby trick is to giggle when we tickle her face or kiss her a lot. It's adorable as she giggles non-stop. We've tried with no luck to capture it on video, but will definitely post one once we capture it in action.

The past few weeks have zoomed by with us trying to get Annie onto more of a schedule, hence the lack of posts. Some days are better than others. A few days ago Annie had her best sleep yet. She slept from 9pm until 8am and only woke up once for a 4 minute feed before passing out again. We've tried with no luck to repeat this but seeing as she's sleeping for up to 7 hour stretches, we really can't complain. As crazy as it sounds I like our time together at night to cuddle. I have to get over it though as I really do want her to be able to sleep through the night.

I'm reading a new book called the No Cry Sleep Solution and so far the methods are working. However, according to the book Annie for her age is a fantastic sleeper already and they do not suggest you push them to sleep more until they are developmentally ready for it. That being said, we are following the methods suggested to get our own routine set so sleep time is more predictable for her.

Besides learning to sleep longer these past few weeks we've also discovered that Annie loves bath time. It is our favourite time of the day and we love being able to see her splash and 'swim' in the tub with Mommy or Daddy. Bathtime went from being a dreadful 'chore' to our favourite time of the day. She no longer screams bloody murder and actually giggles and coos in the tub.

We have had a lot of visitors and have seen a lot of family in the past few weeks. From friends to Grandparents, Aunts, Uncles, Great-Aunts. Great Uncles, Great-Grandparents and 2nd Cousins Annie has made the rounds meeting some familiar but several new faces and charming her way into their hearts.

As exciting as this time is, Mason and I are hoping that our hard work pays off sooner than later. We are realising why parents with babies are not out in public late. We used to get comments on how 'brave' we were to have our newborn out at a restaurant or shopping--we finally get it. During the day she's fantastic but as the sun sets she turns into this cranky baby who craves and needs sleep. So dinner is pushed back and date nights are getting pizza and watching a movie or t.v. As chaotic as our new routine is we wouldn't change it for the world.

For those of you who have requested pictures, I've tried several times to get them up today, something must be wrong. I will get Mason to help get them online ASAP.

xoxo

  1. The term we use in long-term care is "sundowning" and I wouldn't have believed it until I witnessed it. Seniors with dementia who are perfectly fine during the day become more aggressive, weepy and extremely agitated. It's strange how we really do come full circle...

At least Annie is happy during the day...it could be worse. Sounds like she is sleeping really well at night which is a wonderful blessing. I can't wait to see the newest pictures and videos???
