Welcome to the world Isla Marie!

Annie meets her cousin Isla

Yesterday, Meghan was scheduled to be induced as she was 10 days overdue. Meg was in labour for hours and once she was fully dilated at 6:30am this morning she finally delivered her daughter Isla with only an hour of pushing. At 7:36am this morning, our niece Isla Marie was born. She weighs 8lbs 9oz and is 23" long. She is perfect and absolutely beautiful.

Annie, Mason and I visited Meg, Steve and Isla in the hospital this evening. We were breaking the 2 guest rule and had a whole family affair. Thankfully Steve's family is small (It's only his Mom, Dad and Sister). The Fraser side is much bigger with Mo, Mason, Annie, Barb, Don and I crammed into the room at one point, and that's not even everyone. We took turns shuffling out and did our best to whisper so we did not bother the other set of parents and new baby who were sharing the room.

Mason and I are in love with our little niece. It's nice to finally be able to say we have a niece after 7 nephews in a row. Annie loves Isla already and was gently patting her swaddling blanket the way she gently pats Skye and Henry. It was so cute. We are convinced Annie and Isla will be BFF's and Annie will eventually boss Isla around as she's the older cousin.

While we were visiting Steve looked at Meg (as he was holding Isla) and said, "Babes, I hope she sleeps the night tonight." We all just giggled and Meg calmly said, "Honey, Babies are supposed to wake up at night to feed. She will wake up." Steve looked exhausted, but thrilled and so in love with his girls. He kept commenting on how amazing Meghan was and how she was so great in the Labour and Delivery room.

Seeing Isla and holding, smelling her I can see how people get pregnant again and get baby fever. We're not ready to have another yet, maybe in a few more years. Thankfully welcoming Isla into this world was a happy end to my last Friday on Mat Leave. Next Thursday I am back to work. :(
