Last weekend on Mat Leave...

At the zoo.

As it is my last weekend on Mat Leave I wanted to make the most of my last relaxing weekend (until the summer). On Saturday Annie and I had a low-key day and cuddled more and played and together all day long. When Mason came home around 5ish we ate dinner quickly and headed over to Meg, Steve & Isla's house. We had a gift to give Isla and we made them some meals, as we remember they were a new parent's favourite gift. We went with the intention to allow Meg & Steve to sleep, but they were too hungry to sleep. So we had a nice visit with them anyhow and watched Isla while they checked their email, sent pictures of Isla to family/friends and we watched her while they reheated dinner. Meghan and Steve have really taken to parenting immediately. It is amazing to see them grow as a couple and as parents within a matter of days. Steve was very curious to hear how we got Annie onto a routine so we shared what we had learned but said it will be at least a few months before Isla will be remotely ready...but we prayed they would be given one of those babies who sleep through the night when they are two weeks old. :)

Today, Mason, Annie and I headed to the zoo. It was the annual Teacher's Day at the zoo so Mason, Annie and I got in for free, we only had to pay for parking. It was a great day to head to the zoo and even though it was a tad on the chilly side, we had so much fun visiting the different pavilions and seeing the different animals. Annie was so happy and was a little monkey on my back for most of the day as I carried her in my new Ergo carrier. She was so cuddly and would tuck her little arms in behind my back or wrap her arms around my shoulders. She was so excited to see all the animals that she missed her 2nd nap so at 3:30pm, we said she had been up WAY too long as she had been up for 5 hours straight. So even though Mason and I wanted to stay, we headed home to try and get Annie back onto her routine. In the end, 4 hours was more than enough time at the zoo. It was a lot of walking but well worth it. We look forward to going again soon.

  1. Love the zoo pics, especially the one with the giraffe....

Does Baby Isla resemble Annie when she was a newborn? I was comparing pics and they seem to look alike.
Thanks for keeping up the blog, kids. Love it!
