Apple Annie

Annie has a new word to add to her growing vocabulary (Dada, Mama, up, hi, baby, No /"Nah!", Ba"Nana," Ouch! & all done). Today she clear as day looked at Mason and I and said "apple" several times. We could not believe it and tried to capture it on video. Of course she all of a sudden stopped talking. We'll try to get a video of it soon so you can hear it in action.

For dinner tonight I made some pan-seared Tilapia with sauteed onions & mushooms, baked potatoes and baked Kale. Annie gobbled up her entire plate of dinner. It was such a compliment as she was still hungry after she ate and then asked me for a "Nana" (Banana). The bananas were green so I gave her a Mandarin, she gobbled up the whole thing and asked me for a "Nana" again. Mason says she's a bottomless pit. I swear she eats more than I do some days.

Mason and I had to weigh and measure Annie again for our life insurance company. According to our scale Annie weighs 17lbs and is 32". Which means she's gained half a pound but has grown 2.5" in the past 2 months. I guess this explains why her clothes are too short but still fit in the waist.

We can't believe Annie is going to be a year old soon. It is so amazing to think that she will be a toddler soon and not a baby. I love that each day she learns something new but this growing up thing is so hard on me.

A while back a friend sent me a poem on breastfeeding and weaning. It's called Wean Me Gently and is a fantastic piece of writing. Sometimes I read it just to remind myself that what I am feeling (the dread of returning to work) is normal and okay.

  1. Hi Amber,

When you were a child, I couldn't believe how you used to polish off a big plate of rice, curry and veggies and then eat dessert and then a banana...and a drink of juice. She comes by it naturally :) xo
