Teething

NOT a happy little Monkey!
Daddy takes over and helps Annie get some relief with a wet cloth.
So, here I am typing this post with one hand. In the other hand, I am balancing a baby and a teehing ring simultaneously. If anything, motherhood has definitley taught me the art of multi-tasking. For the past three days Annie has been feeding non-stop, for the past day and a half she has been clingy where even a short trip to the bathroom causes her to cry to the point where no sound comes out and hyperventolation begins. I have not felt this sense of helplessness yet as a Mother and it is not a good feeling. Annie looks at me with those baby blue eyes hoping that whatever I do to help her next might take away some of the discomfort and pain she's experiencing

Seeing as I'm still new to this I did what I know how to do best. I called my Mom, my girlfriends with kids and looked online for advice and Mason called his Mom too. I would have looked in my baby books but trying to balance a heavy book, a baby and a teething ring would have been too much.

I found some teething rings we were given Annie's baby shower, wet, knotted and froze some baby face cloths and froze some teething rings all in an attempt help relieve her discomfort. Nothing lasted more than 45 seconds but I had several lined up that I was able to keep her happy for long enough stretches of time to make us both happy.

Thankfully Daddy is now home so I no longer have to write with one hand while balancing a baby and several teething rings. Our only hope is that this stage will come and go as quickly and as pain-free as possible. We have Tylenol and Anbesol as our back-ups tonight incase we are up again for the 3rd night in a row. Let's all pray to the sleep fairies and hope that we all get the sleep we need.
