Yesterday marked the five year "Anniversary" of that fateful night I met Mason. I remember September 9, 2004 very well. We met of all places at Lakehead University's Pub "The Outpost." As many of you know I dated some real winners during my University years so I was happy to return to start Grad School a single lady. (Are you humming Single Ladies by Beyonce while you read this too?)
Anyhow, as fate would have it we met by chance that night when Miranda introduced herself to one of Mason's friends. Eventually I was pulled off the dance floor to meet these "new friends." Mason was the last of the guys we met and I think we were both instantly smitten. The night was a blast-- and have pictures to prove it. At the time my girlfriends thought he was another random and proceeded to take several pictures that evening. Now, as I sit here and write this I can only laugh knowing one day I will have to explain to Annie how Mommy and Daddy met. For those of you who have seen the pictures let's just say they are not so classy. Mason was a gentleman from day 1. He told me he had to leave at midnight that night as he had to fly the next day and that he was not drinking.
I thought over the night I would change his mind. NOPE! The guy left like Cinderella at the strike of midnight. Funny now, but at the time I was not impressed. Something about him was intriguing and I liked how he stuck to his word and was responsible. Five years later, not much has changed. We grow more in love with each passing day.
Today Annie and I had a fantastic day together. We went to the Mall, had lunch together and then went to visit my old school Oakwood to visit my old students and co-workers. I was amazed at how big my students were and how several of them ran over to us screaming "Mrs. Fraser!" with their arms outstretched. Annie and I got a lot of hugs and they were so excited to meet her and see me again. It really made me want to return to the familiar halls.
At Oakwood I met up with my friend Marijke and her son Makai who also used to work with me. After stopping by for a quick visit we all headed over to the local movie theatre who opens their doors up each week to Mommies and their babies to see a real movies.
We saw Julie and Julia. It was a great movie and Annie was fantastic throughout the whole movie. When she was not sleeping in my arms she was up watching the mo
After the movie Annie and I headed down to the lake to go for a walk. Unfortunately it was quite windy so our walk was cut a bit short. Well, I'm pooped from being out all day and night long.
Ahhh September 9, 2004. That was such a fun night and the pictures were great too. Glad it all worked out!
ReplyDeleteI saw Julie and Julia recently too and really enjoyed it. Glad to hear that you and Annie are getting out and about. Looking forward to seeing both of you next weekend.
