Yesterday Canada celebrated it's 142nd Birthday. Canada Day is a day to celebrate for many reasons, in our family, it's also our Wedding Anniversary. We cannot believe it's been two years since we said our vows and officially became husband and wife.
Mason and I were reminiscing yesterday about how far we've come in such a short amount of time. From new jobs, to moving out to our tiny apartment in Bronte, to Buying our first house, getting pregnant and becoming a family of three as we welcomed Baby Annie into our lives. It's been such a joy to share all of these experiences with Mason. I cannot wait to see what else is in store for us.
To celebrate our Anniversary, Barb and Don came down to watch Annie for a couple of hours while Mason and I went to The Lighthouse Restaurant (where we got married) and enjoyed a beautiful lunch on the patio. After lunch, we went exploring and helped ourselves to the open room where we got married and snuck in a few photo ops. After lunch we walked along the lakefront and watched the Canada Day festivities. I even ran into an old student of mine who is all grown up. We walked to our old apartment and then to get some ice cream before heading home. We had a great time together, but as this was my first time away from Annie I was anxious to get back home and see her after four hours apart...but whose counting?
Annie thankfully was a doll and slept most of the time with Barb and Don. With a few diaper changes, some breast milk she was good to go. Unfortunately around this time was also Annie's Angry hours where she basically feeds non-stop until she wipes herself out. We had the best of intentions to take Annie and the dogs back to Bronte and enjoy the festivities but were a bit discouraged by the work involved and Annie's cluster feeding schedule that we decided to stay home and enjoy the night together. We are going to take the family for a walk down by the lake tonight when it will be much less busy.
To make up for the fact that we could not enjoy the Canada Day treats, Mason made me a special dinner of BBQ'd hot dogs and roasted corn on a stick. It was so cute when he served me dinner and said, "Is this what you imagined you'd be having for your Anniversary dinner?" Well, admittedly probably not, but that being said it was the best Anniversary Dinner ever!
To wrap up the night we watched T.V. and cuddled as a family and when Annie and the dogs were asleep Mason and I watched our wedding DVD and laughed and cried (well, I did anyhow) at all of the beautiful memories of our special day. I hope everyone enjoyed the day with their loved ones, celebrating in their own ways.
