Let me start by saying, Amber is the most beautiful woman in the world (no offense to anyone else, that's what I believe). Nope, no "buts". A long time ago (or so it seems), when we had just found out Amber was pregnant with Annie, Amber made me promise her something. She asked me to, "...never let me become one of those frumpy Moms that wear PJs all day, Mom-jeans, and their Husband's clothes!". So, I replied, "Of course, Honey... I'll do what I can.". When I said that, I thought... piece of cake! All those Friday nights being forced to watch Clinton Kelly and Stacey London on TLC, might come to good use after all! Now, before you assume I'm going to tell the tale of how Amber's wardrobe took a slow descent into "What not to wear", 360º Mirror-hell... it didn't. Amber's taste, and sense of style remain largely unchanged, she's just somewhat limited by the selection of maternity clothing itself - something with which many Moms would agree (but I think she still looks beautiful). On the contrary, aside from a couple of things, it was mostly her "at home" wardrobe that changed.Amber has always followed the "rules". At work, she would wear dress pants or skirts each day, except Friday, because Friday was jeans day. Every week, day in and day out... same routine. One day, as she found her dress pants didn't fit as usual due to Annie growing in her belly, so she began to wear jeans on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays with dress pants and skirts in between. Then it became Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Fridays jeans, with "dress-up Thursdays" for a change.... then the inevitable happened: Jeans 5 days a week, with PJ weekends (unless there was a special occasion). Around about this time, came March break. On her last day in class with the kids before they took off for their week off, Amber was asked by one of her students: "Mrs. Fray-zurr, what are you going to do for March Break?" to which Amber replied, "I'm going to stay in my PJs all week!" and she did.
Since then, Amber has been free to wear all the jeans and PJs she wants now that she's home (although its not all fun and games as many of you know). Everything was going well in PJ Land until yesterday. Yesterday, Amber couldn't find any of her PJs so she borrowed a set of my Christmas "Comfy Pants" and a zip up top of mine. Hmmmm... what was that promise I made so long ago? I snapped a picture on my Blackberry just to show her how it looked (not one of my best man-decisions, I'll admit... but I promised her I'd erase it after I showed her and I did). She agreed the outfit did nothing for her! The good news is, she back into her PJs now that we folded all of the laundry this evening... hopefully Annie comes soon!
(Yes, Amber did pre-screen this message!)
post the pic. post the pic....
ReplyDeleteHAHA...I made him delete it. I was NOT impressed. I looked like a fat man. It was funny, I'll give him that, but I'm glad he deleted it.
ReplyDeleteHa...I so want to see that pic. Mason, I know it exists somewhere in your recycle bin on your blackberry. Go check it now...I so want to see that.
ReplyDeleteVery funny though. Apparently all those years of what not to wear had their limit. I guess when you are 39 weeks preggers there are no more rules. It's all about comfort--even if that mean's your Husband's jammies and hoodies. Hot or not.
Mason, you are a good man for letting her borrow your clothing. I am sure it looks better on you, but I know that she appreciates it nonetheless.
I can't wait to meet baby Annie and tell her how Momma lost her mind and fashion sense while she carried her in the womb.
Lots of love and we'll see you tomorrow. Tell baby Annie to hold our for our visit and pedicures.
xoxo Miranda
Every young woman think that they're going to be crowned the most stylin' expectant Mom-to-be and later, the sassiest new mother ever. It's harder to pull off that one would think. Amber, so far, you've looked gorgeous through your pregancy. If we ever catch a glimpse of that deleted picture, though, you'll have to hand over the tiara!
ReplyDeleteGreat post, Mason,
Mom/Max/ Nanan
